Mr. Scarlett currently serves as Vice President of Medical Equipment Exporters, Inc., in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the USA. He has spent more than forty years working in a wide range of international activities, with both private sector companies and with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved in international economic development. For fourteen years, Mr. Scarlett served as Chairman of the Board of Durex Products, Inc., of Luck, Wisconsin, a small private manufacturer of custom products for the mining industry. Mr. Scarlett introduced Durex’s products into overseas mining markets and guided it to its present position as a leader of an international alliance of similarly specialized companies in Germany, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Scarlett served as Interim President of Smart Screen Systems, Inc., in Chisholm – on Minnesota’s Iron Range; and set up South African distribution for a series of mineral processing technologies. Mr. Scarlett has devoted his career to meeting the challenges faced by growing businesses as they enter or expand in global markets. He also has dedicated much of the past thirty years to service as a volunteer for ACCION International, Somerville, Massachusetts, and its extensive international network of microlending affiliates. He currently serves as a member of ACCION’s President’s Council. In his home community, Mr. Scarlett volunteers as Chairman of the Minnesota International Center and as Chairman of Compatible Technology International. Mr. Scarlett is fluent in German, Spanish and Portuguese and has lived or worked throughout Europe, Latin America and parts of Africa.
